Are you facing the same dilemma as I am? Having the kids home for the summer is nice but my challenge is keeping them occupied without resorting too much on the old standby – Mr. Television. Books are a great way to get them actively using their imaginations. In my family, the kids make up plays that act out their favorite parts of a book or write and perform songs about the stories they've read in impromtu talent shows. So it is creative and fun, too.
If you’ve read your kids the story of the three little pigs and the big bad wolf, you’ll enjoy the variation on the classic named Ziggy Piggy and the Three Little Pigs by Frank Asch. It is fun to read and a blast to act out.. at least in our home. For more reading lists to make the summer months go by faster, visit Kids’ Brain – lots of great book lists and reviews, too.
Got any other ideas for summer kids fun that are free or very cheap to do, please share them with me.
