For those of you who know me personally, you probably know about my daughter. For those of you who only know me through MomCheck, you may not. My daughter Addison is 9 months old. She was born 3 months early, at 26 weeks. She weighed 1.3 pounds. That's her picture up top when she was 2 weeks old - yes, those are our wedding rings around her arm. It's hard to look at & comprehend it, isn't it? Go ahead, look down at your hand at your rings and imagine that ring around your baby's upper arm. Yeah - she was that small. We spent 3 months in the hospital. Someday I'll share some of that fear and anguish with all of you, but that's not why I'm writing right now. I'm writing because today - we have the chance to be real live heroes.

This is a picture of Addie today at 9 months old.

We've had a rough start, and our road is still rocky & unknown, but it's a happy road, because she's here - she's alive. We owe her life to the work of the March of Dimes. It's because of donors like you that I get to see her smiling face each morning, that I get to watch her grow stronger, grow bigger, grow up.

Today, Farmers' Insurance is sponsoring a one-day Be a Hero event. For every dollar you donate, Farmers' will match it. We have a goal of $1 million. Be a Hero today. For me, for Addie, for the thousands of moms and dads that are sitting by bedsides in the hospital right this very minute. For the babies who without our help would have little chance of survival. These babies need us - let's be heroes today.
